The scanner in this video is “BFS-Auto” invented by Dai Nippon Printing and the research team of Tokyo University. This can scan 250 pages in one minute.
It is required to make a flat condition to prevent warping with the conventional scanner, but this could scan every pages by leafing through a book.
This scanner is scheduled to be used as books electronic service such as library collection books in 2013, and also is under consideration of direct sales. Electronic books are spreading, and this scanner might have high demand.
It’s cool. But it should be incredible expensive…
How does it judge one page or more in one moment? I wonder how does this work for old books.
It’s my first time to see such a cool invention. I could digitize my collection easily!
This makes me cry. :( Look at that beauty of function…
As other people said, how does this work for book hard to turn?
It might be a dream machine for people who collect data or official documents. I was impressed by the movement of turning pages. I still don’t understand how it works even after watching the video. +3
Insert this system to robot, and let them read books by themselves. +38
It’s technology of dreams! Please Santa.
Could you deliver this machine if I pay alot?
The problem is this would never be completely flat not like the conventional scanners. This might need some improvements, but still has amazing speed.
They seems to scan by changing the pages image to 3D. Also, this seems to be flat mostly.
The photo is taken by 3 cameras. after combining, it becomes flat.
Then, book illegal copy is easier! Nice!!! +3
Well, the problem is the price….
If we could upload the information to human’s brain, this must be amazing! :) +46
Have we ever had such an amazing demo video before?
If the book is hardcover?
Christmas is coming! I want two of them..
If my university had this device, it might be wonderful…
It’s like the real version of robot in the film. +4
This machine, human brain, book store.
If these three are connected, obtaining information must be easy! :)
I really want this skill in my brain!
It might have some confusion when several pages turned once. Well, but it might have the super result…
Oh yeah. Method of copyright infringement becomes much simple!
Skynet is becoming true. +3
Japan is the country which has the world’s most advanced science technology, right?
I love that country. I love Japanese technology! :)
Well, so we don’t have to depend on that horrible reCAPTCHA.
It’s the perfect technology to keep my old manga collection.
Then, the people who infringe copyright’s dream comes true…
I want this! I don’t know how I use this, but I just want this!
