Shinbashi no Miko 1 & Mokuzou Meikyu 3

Well, about Shinbashi no Miko which has such a cover photo… The woman on the cover photo is Miyama Ichiko. She is an office lady.
I thought this is the manga related to shrine….
Because of this setup, I got interested in not only Ichiko but also story.
Actually when Ichiko is working at office is nice as well we wearing Miko costume.

(He is already expelled.) (You will be fired if you lose your virginity.)
Comedy part makes me laugh too.
This includes not only sex appeal.
At the end of volume 1, Ichiko’s sister, Futaba appears. Ichiko seems to be Shinbashi no Miko, and Futaba is Akihabara no Miko. Well, the story seems to be spread a little bit.
Still I think this is manga admiring Ichiko basically. It’s for Miko liker, Oppaian. I don’t regret to have bought this!! lol

Let’s move to the main topic.
It’s about anime appearing in other film or TV program, found in the foreign anime forum. It looks interesting.

I was watching Duck: The Carbine High Massacrethe other night and one of the scenes had one of the shooters watching anime which was  MD Geist and Gunsmith Cats.
Another movie i can think off that had another anime reference off the top of my head is in theTransformersfilm there was a Naruto wallpaper in the college dorm and in The Monster Squad the little kid in the movie had a Robotech T-shirt on.

What other films happen to have anime/manga style references in films and tv shows?…

The movie “The Core” had a Sailor Moon reference of all things. When one of the main character’s students about doing some internet search, the guy replies “You can use our T1 line to search Sailor Moon crap”.

That one line was the only reason why I watched the film too.
The Battletech/Mechwarrior series had a number of references to anime. Wolf’s Dragoon’s had Char Anzable as a pilot. Nice :D

Oh yea, One Hour Photo had Robin Williams hold a Eva Unit 05 figure too, forgot about that…

Robot Chicken has had a few.
I recall references to Sailor Moon, Dragon Ball Z, and Ranma 1/2.

Inuyasha, Voltron, and Speed Racer.. and FF VII.

And this, which must be seen to be believed.

There’s also the obligatory mention of that verse in the Barenaked Ladies’ song “One Week”
Like Kurasawa I make mad films
Okay, I don’t make films
But if I did they’d have a Samurai
Gonna get a set a’ better clubs
Gonna find the kind with tiny nubs
Just so my irons aren’t always flying off the back-swing
Gotta get in tune with Sailor Moon
‘Cause the cartoon has got the boom anime babes
That make me think the wrong thing

Chazooma
Naruto in Ben 10.
That’s about all I can think of right now, though.

Conan O’Brien did an anime bit (twice) on his show.
Saturday Night Live has had multiple skits featuring a bad waiter/bartender wearing a RurouniKenshin shirt.
South Park did an entire episode where the kids buy ninja weapons, and the show turns into an anime parody.

Oh yea, Billy and Mandy did a spoof off DBZ

And Kids Next Door did a spoof on it as well

Spanish dub… my bad…

Stephen Chow (Shaolin Soccer, Kung Fu Hustle) did a Kamehameha in the classic “The Flirting Scholar”. Years later, he would produce that awful Draognball movie.
Stephen Chow also recommended “City Hunter” as comtemporary classic literature in his other classic film “Fight Back to School”. He plays a cop going undercover as a university student in the film.

Everwood used to have a bunch of anime references. Ephram, the main character, was an anime fan for the first 2 seasons or so…until he got a girlfriend. Then the anime angle faded out.
The O.C. had several references to Akira, Ghost in the Shell and Full Metal Alchemist courtesy of Seth, the resident nerd. In the last season, Ryan spent a night watching some anime with a girl. I couldn’t quite figure out what was playing…it looked like Vampire Hunter D from the shots I could see.
I’m quite sure CSI or some other crime show used anime once or twice to try to spin some excuse for sources of criminal deviance.

Also, at some of the WWE tapings, some fans were seen holding a sign of Pikachu in DX garb (this was back in the late 1990′s BTW), a cardboard cutout of Chii from Chobits, and a sign promoting the “Nuku Nuku World Order” (a reference to the anime Catgirl Nuku Nuku).

Most recently, an episode of Chowder called “Tofu Town Showdown” had Schnitzel going Super Saiyan. Also, Schnitzel screamed RAAADOUKEN!!!

In one scene of the movie “See Spot Run”, the little boy says he can’t sleep because he had a nightmare of Charizard trying to burn him.
In the game “Grand Theft Auto: The Ballad of Gay Tony”, you can watch an anime series by the name of “Princess Robot Bubblegum”.

I remember that the kid in Michael Clayton has an EVA Unit 01 toy.

Dragon Ball Z was referenced in a Season 7 episode (‘Potential”…I think) of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer.”

Probably the most surprising Anime References were these two: The Price is Right and Jeopardy.

I had fun with the Jeopardy one

I was shouting at answers out loud at the contestants and calling them “FOOLS!” if they failed. :anime:

While channel surfing one day I stumbled upon a figure skating competition, and something about a male skater’s costume caught my eye: he was dressed as Spike Spiegel from Cowboy Bebop!

The skater’s name is Samuel Contesti and he’s from Italy. Unfortunately the song he used for his routine was not from CB, but a song from Frank Sinatra I think. If he had used “Tank!” it would’ve been really awesome.

Kelly Osbourne went to Japan and dressed as Lacus Clyne.

Transformers Animated referenced Ghost in the Shell, FLCL, God Masterforce, Robots in Disguise, Gurren Lagann, GaoGaiGar, Macross Plus and Speed Racer throughout the corse of the series.

str8up Male
In the War of the Worlds movie there was a scene where Sailor Moon was playing on the tv.

In the Hong Kong movie “The Beast Stalker”, actor Liu Kai-Chi makes references to Fullmetal Alchemist. Although he never states which anime this is coming from, he does quote the whole “equivalent exchange” concept. However, he does mention that it came from a cartoon.

Tonight on 30 Rock we apparently got James Franco having a moe fetish for a generic anime Japanese body pillow.

Funkgun
Mathew Sweet had two music videos « I’ve Been Waiting » « Girlfriend ».

In the new movie It’s Complicated, you can see Bleach and Naruto posters on a kid’s wall. During the closing credits, it says “Bleach and Naruto posters courtesy of Viz Media”.

There was a very well done Pokemon parody in the short lived Life Action comedy Norm.

Norm: Butterfree use Whirlwind.
Butterfree: I don’t wanna use the whirlwind attack, it’s too girly. I wanna do something else… I wanna throw a chair at him!

in the show Bones, they found a dead person with an anime-looking mask on, and Bones (the woman) said that it wasn’t any famous anime character, such as Sailor Moon, Faye Valentine, or Motoko. They make a lot of anime references I believe in that episode, they even go to an anime cafe with otaku and maids.

Leaping Larry Jojo 31 yo Male
Wow, she actually said THOSE three characters?
I gotta see that episode.

Urusei Yatsura California 15 yo Male
Yep! If you’re wondering, the episode is called The Girl in the Mask, Season 4 Episode 23.
I forget the episode but again in Bones, Hodgins talks a little about Akira.
————————————————————————–
I watched that episode yesterday!!
BONES is my favorite drama, so I rarely miss watching it. I was super surprised. In the first few minutes, dead person with anime-looking mask appeared and…for me Japanese, it’s just Ehhhhhh until the end. The killed young lady’s name is Sachi Nakamura. It’s okay. But the Japanese language was not great, kinda Chinese BGM, and repeating bowing… (even Bones did!!) The main characters wondered if « that person is female or male » by looking at the Japanese doctor who helped their investigation… I felt so confused by watching it… lol
If you have a chance, please watch it!
BONES Season 4 DVD collector BOX
(I like the MALE character called Sweets)

This thread was interesting because I found some films and TV programs I didn’t know that anime was appearing in this.
I laughed and was surprised about the quiz show « Jeopardy »!
The scene presenter posed the question by saying Naoko Takeuchi, Magical girl etc really gently was funny. But much more than that, the serious faced man was super funny!
« Sailor Moon!! »

Nobody could answer this, and the presenter said « Akiiiira! » That’s LOL!!!
It’s too funny, so I thought it’s kind of organized joke. But it seemed to be happened in real according to the comment on that video….

About Sailor Moon, that comic Ziggy touched me, too.
The person talked about this said «must be seen to be believed »….
This Ziggy is by America, Tom Wilson. He was born in Aug 1931. That Sailor Moon was drawn in 2007. It means 75 years old man used Sailor Moon topic….

US drama « Everwood »’s main character Ephram talked passionately about Ghost in the Shell alot, but he stopped talking… I felt bit sad about that, so I could share the same feeling with one foreigner talking about this.
O.S.’s Seth was a funny character, too. Actually he was Amecomi otaku, though. Some people said the anime in that program was not Vampire Hunter D, but ero anime…. O_o

Robin Williams who had Eva’s figure in this film is famous as an anime fan. I searched for the video or photo which he has a figure, but I couldn’t find it….. sad…. orz

At last, I wanna introduce the anime used in the foreign drama.
US drama « LAW & ORDER », the criminal wore this shirt….

He is Trigan but Hiko Seijyuro!!
It’s impossible… Why?
Of course you don’t know about his if you don’t watch this drama, but this man is really evil , and this scene is very serious.
He tries to be really evil in front of a beautiful woman with this shirt. I felt so much wrongness!!
Well, I should not miss any recent American drama…. It’s very nice!! ^^
